Hi there. There's one post on PeakD which I created before joining you here. So let me link to Mt Kosciuszko - Australia's top peak and only add a few words here. Apart from scenic photos on a cold, sunny day, I see at least three reasons for reading it.
Each continent has its top mountain. There are 7 continents, so we have 7 top mountains. They are collectively called "The Crown of the Earth" and reaching the summit of all of them is a bucket list challenge. I guess I'd never make it to the top of Mt Everest, but with Australia's Mt Kosciuszko I've started the quest. Not much of an achievement, the peak is only 2228m and I used chair lift to get to 1930m... but still...
Mt Kosciuszko sounds a bit outlandish, doesn't it? It's not an Aboriginal name. It's a... Polish name. Why would Australians name their highest peak in a way which almost impossible for them to pronounce? Answer in the article.
Australia's top mountain is not Australia's top mountain :-). Mt Kosciuszko is the top peak of Australia the continent, but it is not the peak of Australia the country!
I hope you enjoy reading my story on Mt Kosciuszko.
My intention is to post my next articles here and have them automatically published on PeakD. A bit tricky for a newbie like myself, because publishing on PeakD requires so called RC which are somehow tied to my HIVE balance I believe. I'd be grateful for some advice on the integration.
